For the following months we'll be on the lookout for the final missing piece of the puzzle, or if I may say "ingredient of the salad", an undiscovered vocal talent to complete our line up, just in time for the band's debut. We'll be recording the album around mid to late 2010, by which time we should have made the decision. The chosen vocalist should come over to meet us and record his parts locally, with our guidance. The band is based in Brasilia, Brazil. We aren't just looking for a hired gun to record this specific album. This is an offer for a position as our frontman. Should you be chosen, you will be offered to tour with us wherever, when the time comes. ╟► [Prerequesites] - Male - Easy going, professional/responsible and have a great love for music - willing to come down to Brazil to record if chosen (we'll discuss arangements to make it happen). - able/willing to put whatever else aside and go on tours, maybe even assume the gig fulltime, in the future, if need be. - not necessarily, but preferably around our age (Caco 24yo, César 28yo, Felipe 24yo, Thiago 26yo), though mindset will always count more than years. - confident you qualify (read the next section, on qualities we expect to hear) ╟► [How to apply] Send an email to badsaladband@gmail.com with the following: - Name - Birth date and place - City / Country you're living in currently - Occupation - Your musical resume (experiences, projects you've been in, albums, bands. Ever recorded in a pro studio? Do you write music/lyrics? Play any instruments? Studied music formally or self-taught?) - Your musical influences (both bands and vocalists) Also include: - at least 02 Audio recordings of yourself singing in English (own songs, your band's, covers), a video would also be great. You don't need to send in everything, just the ones you're proud of. - a decent quality picture of yourself ***Submissions without recordings (mp3, links) and a picture will not be considered.*** IMPORTANT: We will go through every submission. The ones who we think fit best our expectations will be contacted and asked to record demo vocals for the song in this video. You will be given the lyrics and a guide track with the melodies to do so. This step will help us to better evaluate the candidates, within the context of our own song. The best of luck to all! ╟► [Period to apply] We will be accepting and evaluating submissions for 2 months, April 20th to June 20th 2010. If by the end of this period we find it was insuficient time, we reserve ourselves the right to extend it. ╟► [Qualities we're looking for:] 1) Tone/Pitch/Range. 1.1) Tone Beautifully sounding natural voice. You either have it or you don't. Obviously there are differences inside the realm of 'good tone', so we'll list a few singers we like, this way youhave references (topic #4). We're mostly looking for someone with a clean, silky tone, but who can also get an aggressive drive. No need for growling though. 1.2) Pitch In past days this would go without saying. We are well aware of how flooded with autotune music is these days, and we aren't against this technology if it makes for better sounding records. Still, we'd like someone who can hold his own live, when put side by side with the greats. So yeah, sing in tune please. 1.3) Range Although we don't have plans to get "girly high" for most of the melodies, we still might on occasions. Hey it's a PROG METAL band, warm-up and squeel out that F#, impress us. Seriously, for the most of it, we're keeping it mid ranged. A 5 octave voice won't impress us nearly as much as other qualities listed here. 2) Impecable English skills. Our lyrics are being written in English, so you have to be able to deliver them convincingly. I can't stress enough how much we feel this quality is important. If you are native of an English speaking country (or one with equivalent emphasis in it's learning), and have a great, clear pronounciation, you are one step ahead of the lot. 3) Interpretation and Personality. We're looking for someone who's feeling the music, not just reading it.
