Nicolai Nazoni (Italien painter) baroque O Palácio, Casa ou Solar de Mateus é uma das obras mais significativas da arquitectura civil portuguesa do período barroco. Na realidade, e apesar das muitas questões de autoria que permanecem por esclarecer, neste sumptuoso solar podemos observar um dos modelos arquitectónicos de maior erudição, que tira partido de uma planta em U, dinamizada pelos pátios e escadarias. E não apenas pelos elementos decorativos da fachada, como acontece em grande parte dos imóveis desta época. Aqui encontramos todos os elementos da arquitectura barroca, nomeadamente a simetria, a axialidade, os frontões interrompidos, as balaustradas, as escadarias e os elevados pináculos. The Palace (Maner House) of Mateus is one of the workmanships most significant of the Portuguese civil architecture of the baroque period. In the reality, and although the many questions of authorship that remain for clarifying, in this gorgeus solar we can observe one of the architectural models of bigger erudition, that it takes off broken of a plant in U, dinamized for the terraces and staircases.
